Growing in the Christian Faith
An opportunity to find out more about the Christian faith by asking questions; and considering the possibility of confirmation.
One of the highlights of our Old Town Partnership of Churches is our annual confirmation service which is shared jointly with our partners at, Christ Church, Immanuel United Reformed Church and Bath Road Methodist Church. At the service those who are being confirmed become members of the Church of England, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church. This coming year the confirmation will take place on: 10.00am Sunday 13th May 2012 At Immanuel United Reformed Church.
We would like to invite you to consider whether this would be right for you.
The confirmation course will begin in March. Some people may use the confirmation course as a refresher in the Christian faith, others will come to be confirmed into full membership of the Church while others will be baptised and confirmed. Let’s be open to God’s leading and call upon our lives.
There will be 2 groups:
1. Adult group will meet on Sunday evenings 8pm-9.15pm.
2. Junior group for 11-15year olds will meet on Sunday afternoons 4pm-5pm.
Please let either Stephen or Robert know as soon as you can.

Harvest Appeal: An update
Our harvest appeal was mentioned in the Vietnam Laos Cambodia Medical Scientific Aid News Bulletin (www.msavlc.co.uk). Here’s what they wrote:
Well done, Immanuel! The congregation of Immanuel Church, Swindon has raised the amazing sum of £3,300 in their Harvest Appeal to support the work of Rostitus Cheng in Phnom Penh. Many of you will remember the story of Rostitus and his wonderful work helping children who live on a rubbish dump. The money raised by Immanuel will not only fund the training of staff in basic primary health care (such as how to deal with eye and ear infections, burns, cuts and other injuries sustained by the children as they search through mountains of rubbish), but will also pay for the provision of first aid supplies for the next three years. A big thank you goes to all the congregation and in particular to the World Concerns Committee who recommended MSAVLC as their chosen charity for this year’s appeal.
Threshold’s annual sponsored sleep-out
Remember Threshold’s annual sponsored sleep-out which takes place on Friday 2nd December, here in our car park. Steve Brain has a sponsor form for Phil Smith (of Threshold), so if you would like to make a donation to this very worthwhile charity, whilst you sleep safely and warmly in your own beds, sign up on the form!
