History

Immanuel URC first opened its doors on 13th September 1939 and has served the community of Old Walcot ever since.  Its roots as a worship community can be traced back to 19th Century via Victoria Street Congregational Church and Newport Street Independent Chapel.

The full history of Immanuel can be found in An Ever-Flowing Stream: The Story of Immanuel United Reformed Church, Upham Road, Swindon by Stephen Brain, Kite Press: Swindon (1999).  Copies can be bought from the church.
